Our Intentions for 2020. 🦉✨
Did you know that 60% of people make New Year's Resolutions and only about 8% of people end up keeping them? Pretty low odds, right?
Unfortunately, most resolutions can feel like a to-do list, making it easy to miss a day and fall off track. This is why we prefer to set intentions for the upcoming year. Intentions are less about doing, and more about being. They are often focused on hopes and dreams for the future, rather than specific goals we want to accomplish.
One way we make sure we are setting intentions rather than resolutions is by following a specific format when writing them down. Each of our intentions include the words “We want to be…” followed by meaningful practices we want to invest in this year.
Here are some of our intentions for 2020.
1. We want to be sustainable.
Sustainability is at the core of what we do here at OWL Venice. This is why we maintain a zero waste policy. All of our goods are packaged in glass, which is not only 100% recyclable, it is free of chemicals that could negatively impact the flavor and aroma of our products. We also use all-natural ingredients sourced from local farms, which supports small businesses and eco-friendly farming.
While we’ve been practicing sustainability since OWL first began, it’s our goal to continually search for ways to positively impact our world. We know that there will always be more to learn and new practices that will benefit the environment, and we hope to end 2020 with an even greater understanding of sustainability practices.
2. We want to be grateful.
We have a lot to be thankful for as we enter 2020. Over the past few years OWL Venice has grown from a one-woman show in Lindsey’s kitchen to a company with an incredible staff, commercial kitchen, and storefront on Abbot Kinney. We’ve been given the gift of abundance this past year and we plan to spend 2020 searching for new ways to show our thanks, whether it’s through special promotions, giveaways, and events.
3. We want to be rooted.
After several years of hard work spent laying the foundation for OWL Venice, we see this next year as an opportunity to refine our practices and establish deep roots. OWL began because of one person’s mission to heal the body, nurture the soul, and establish a community. These values are the reason the OWL team shows up for work every day and we plan to spend 2020 searching for new ways to live out our mission.
These are just a few of the ways we plan to live this year. By establishing these intentions, we will be able to focus on the things that are most important to us right now! Are you being called to pursue a new way of living this year? In what ways do you hope to grow in 2020, and what intentions can you set that will encourage you to grow into the person you want to become?
We hope you take the time to reflect on this as we move into a new decade, and that you always remember it’s never too late to make positive change. You’re worth it!
